Through the Carlsberg Foundations support, the Carlsberg Research Laboratory researches the development of new malting barley varieties, investigating improvements the beer's freshness, shelf life and foam quality.
The Carlsberg Research Laboratory also researches the possibility of more climate-tolerant barley varieties, which could be better equipped to survive in periods of less rainfall.
